ABOUT EBONY SADE
Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky; Ebony Sade Williams is a self taught artist and woman of faith. She has the ability to see and capture beauty in every situation. She believes, through every struggle derives 'growth', just as every caterpillar derives a butterfly.
Ebony identifies art in every facet of life, as she believes that art resides everywhere. Her goal as an artist is to bring out that beauty to her canvas as she creates, inspires, evokes and even transports your mind allowing you to explore your own creativity.
"I had always been creative as a kid," Ebony explains; "In fact, the first Christmas gift I remember receiving as a child was an art set. One of those plastic, binder-style sets that looked like it had been purchased at a school book fair. I loved it!' Ebony explains further, "Markers, paint, colored pencils, crayons, patels, I had everything I needed which birthed my love for art. I had no idea this would lead me down a path of creativity for the rest of my life, I just knew I was happy creating."
As mentioned, Ebony didn't always have plans to be an artist. She thought that at one point, fine arts was only something wealthy people did in their spare time. "The starving artist paradigm was real '', Ebony says. "I could not get rid of the itch to create, (neither did I desire to get rid of that itch)." Naturally, Ebony attended college as an interior design major. Profoundly inspired by TV shows on the HGTV network, Ebony took all the foundational art classes with the exceptions of one- painting. "Sure, I loved art, but did I want to spend hours talking about dead guys and ceiling paintings? No, not at all. Furthermore, when I walked past the painting room I heard not even the least bit of fun coming from it." A couple semesters went by and though the design program was discontinued, she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Arts & Sciences.
Still having an intense desire to use her creativity, Ebony enrolled into Cosmetology School where she received her cosmetology license. "I was overjoyed," Ebony says, "I could finally use my creative gifts to make a living. Funny enough, I called myself a hair artist for many years." During Ebony's career as a stylist, she learned the importance of building relationships and the basics of business. Painting had become Ebony's hobby. Whenever she desired a glass of wine and relaxation, she would indulge in the art of painting. Though her desire for this creative expression was consistent, she wasn't actively consistent; this on again, off again love affair lasted about 5 years. "I did enjoy being a stylist, but something was just missing. I kept wondering why people were not more expressive with their style. Why does everyone want to look the same and have the same style of hair? I wanted to literally create art in people's heads. As difficult as it was to admit, I no longer had the passion for this portion of my journey. Then came the pandemic!"
Out of the pandemic (March 2020), an artist was born. This era of life ensued a worldwide pandemic which was prompted by a disease that would shock the nation and change lives forever; the coronavirus. People were forced to find ways to redirect their lives and find other means of conducting business and even hobbies.
Among those changes, Ebony's active painting increased as she felt more peace than has ever experienced. Shortly after her new drive to consistently paint, Ebony sold her first art piece via livestream, as the internet more than ever became an intricate part of how this new life post pandemic would be conducted. "Suddenly everything changed!" Ebony explains, "I thought about being an artist, my reality shifted; I can actually sell my art work! After experiencing multiple individuals soliciting commissioned art pieces from me ensued an unbelievable feeling that someone appreciated the work I took my time with and poured my heart into."
"I formed an endless amount of relationships with people over beautiful concepts and imageries- this led to deep conversations about everything from life ideals to hidden realities of the world around, which inspires much of my paintings". This new found love for painting allowed Ebony to meet people from all over the world and has connected her with them on such a profound level. Ebony has collaborated with artists of other mediums- music, poetry, etc. those relationships made way for those relationships to reside in a creative space. This is the real meaning of the word, vibe.
Ebony has provided people with a place online to get away from the issues of the world, the drama and all the negativity of the internet and just relax. She allows her audience to relax while watching beautiful art in real-time creation. She provides and experience of soothing sounds and meaningful conversations. "I knew this is what I wanted to do" Ebony says, "With my faith in God, I took the leap and decided to make this dream into a reality!"
"The aim of art is not to represent the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance"
